GDI has strong ties with several universities around the world. Our emerging network is comprised of academies of higher education known for both world class teaching and learning and for applied and practice-led research shaping positive social change. We draw on the expertise and passion of student volunteers, interns, faculty and professional staff. This consortium of advocates, known as ‘good deed do’ers’, are well educated, inspirational and ready to make a difference.
Presently, students from the Black Opal program have formed Good Deeds’ second university student group. Several leaders from the program also support our local board. Creative counter child-trafficking advocates are sprouting up all around the world! Black Opal is an exciting and innovative 3-year program that provides students with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills alongside their degree. In a supportive and fun-filled environment, students nurture their leadership potential through camps, weekly mentoring, community service, training workshops, social activities, overseas exchange, personal & professional development, and much more.
Good Deeds International is QUT’s first service-learning partner. Working with the Faculty of Creative Industries, Good Deeds is a part of a development engagement grant which seeks to unite students in volunteer service to meet community needs. Students from QUT are presently supporting Good Deeds in a variety of volunteer capacities related to our creative counter child trafficking initiative such as Big Deeds.
